The (PTIC) in Jakarta reported that Indonesia passed a law on Franchise Regulation effective 23 July. The law requires franchisors to submit their franchise prospectus for approval by the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia. Also, the regulation requires franchisors and franchisees to register the franchise agreement with the Ministry of Trade, otherwise sanction such a warnings, fines, and revocation of the Certificate of Franchise Registration will be imposed. The implementing rules and regulations issued by the Department of Trade is under revision and will be issued early July, according to the Department of Trade Sub-Directorate on Institutional and Franchise Business.
